Office MSI Schema 1.0

Is there a reason that Office XP & Office 2003 is released
in MSI Schema 1.0? I am under the impression 1.0 was
beta, and the official release was 1.1. The current
standard is 2.0, yet Office 2003 is released in 1.0.

The format 1.0 causing issues with my companies product.
I am frequently asked about this. It would be helpful if
I had a Microsoft response.

MS Office 2003 was going to be released with the newer
version, however the next release for MSI was pushed back,
so Office 2003 was released using the older version.

The first official release of MSI was 1.1, the current
standard is 2.0. 1.0 which Office 2003 is released in is
BETA from 1999.
