Hi,
Instead of developing hundreds of Localized versions of Office plus the
Multilanguage English version and its hundreds of translation packages, why
not having only the Multilanguage version and its packages?
It would be pretty much simpler for Microsoft to develop, mantain and
support Office. And Office would be much more standardized among several
languages.
Also, the end user would have the option to install several languages of
Office at the same computer (as only a corporate user can, if the network
administrator installs the Multilanguage English version instead of the
localized one).
At the begining of Office Setup it would recognize the Regional Option of
the computer and automatiaclly select the language used during setup and then
select the desired language package to be installed after the common english
installation. However, setup should always leave an option for the user to
change these language options.
Please consider this big simpification to Office development.
The same idea could be used for Windows.
For instance issues as the following one would be solved among several
lanaguage versions of Windows:
We won't have "C:\Arquivos de Programas" instead of "C:\Program Files"
anymore...
Thanks for the attention.
