I am encountering critical OLE errors on a Microsoft Server 2003 with Office
2003. This server was originally upgraded from Windows 2000 with Office 2000.
The errors began several months after the upgrade.
When attempting to open an email message in Word, the error "word could not
be found or is busy" occurs. When attempting to open or create a graph in
Access the error "Microsoft Access can't find the file containing the linked
OLE object you
tried to update using the OLE/DDE links command." Both these issues bgan
appearing this week. Users connect to this server for terminal services and
can not perform these actions.
We have uninstalled all Office components, even manually to the point of
causing a server reboot loop. We removed all possible application
installations or upgrades that may have caused this problem, and we have
researched technet, knowledge base and partner sites for every possible fix
to one or both problems.
Since we have been unable to resolve this issue so far we were hoping for
some suggestions from the community at large.
Thanks,
Ed Muller
