Well I uninstalled Norton and eDataSecurity. Then I reinstalled Office.
Outlook worked good until I installed Service pack 1. Now it doesn't
launch
from shortcuts, but if I type "outlook" in "Run..." window it launches.
I
can
launch it now using "Run..." but it's not the best way, is it
:
That article goes on to say "This application has failed to start
because
MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this
problem."
It's a popular topic on some boards where there are more acer users
but
to
the best of my knowledge, the fix is to remove it and repair. You
might
be
able to disconnect the addin in the registry and repair outlook - but
if
uninstalling, repairing, and rebooting doesn't fix it, I'm not sure
editing
the registry will either.

The thing is I don't have problems with RTFHTML.dll as described in
your
first link. So I'm not sure that it's an Acer problem just since all
other
office applications work fine. I tried this solution but the problem
persists. Why couldn't MS make outlook compatible with Acer just
like
Word
or
Excel?
:
Well, its not an outlook problem at all - Acer forums would be the
best
place to look, or Google...
I found this -
http://followtheheard.blogspot.com/2008/02/acer-laptop-and-microsoft-outlook-2007.html
It says to uninstall the acer software and run office diagnostics.

Hey, MS. I have an Acer notebook with Vista Home Premium. After I
installed
Office 2007 Suite and launched Outlook twice I can't launch it
anymore,
because of message about missing "MSVCR80.dll" file. I tried to
download
the
file and put it in System32 folder, though it didn't work. I also
tried
to
launch the Outlook in safe mode. It did launch, and I removed all
addins,
but
after that it still doesn't work. I know there might be problems
with
Acer
eDataSecurity but I don't see any entries in the Outlook addins
folder
in
registry. If it possible I'd like not to remove Norton Antivirus
and
eDataSecurity. Thanks.
