tried these but no luck.
i forgot to tell you when i open outlook it says "A data file did not
close
down properly the last itme it was used and is being checked for problems.
Performance might be affected while the check is in progress"
this happens everytime.
i will try and disable the whole of the anti virus software next (Norton).
i have being using Norton before with no problems.

Try setting it to a longer interval like 10 minutes. If you have more
than
one account configured you should set it even longer.
Also, if you have a virus scanner that integrates with Outlook, disable
this
integration and try again.
