Office pro 2003 Front page install

M

markeydsl

I have office 2003, and when I installed the programs, there was not an
option to install front page. While browsing the files on the disk I found
that there is a bootstrap application to install frontpage 2003, however when
I try to install from that file, the CD key is rejected. I also tried
installing other individual programs like Word from the bootstrap icon, and
the cd key was rejected.
The CD key was not rejected on the initial install when the disc is
insterted and auto play option is used or when I select the setuppro.exe,
however again this option does not offer me the choice to install Frontpage.
can someone tell me how to get this installed, as I am still using the the
xp version of frontpage from the XP version of office.

Thank you

And if you pop your Office2003 cd in does it not auto run and give you the
option to Add/Modify Components?

M

markeydsl

Yes it gives me a window call maintenance mode options, however, when I
select add or remove features, it still does not offer the option to add FP.
Strange that it would be on the CD, but not be able to install it.

M

markeydsl

It does offer the add remove option, but still does not offer the option to
install FP, strange that it is on the CD but not availible for install.

Is there not an option/icon to 'run from pc'?

not for FP. The only reason that I found it in the first place is that I was
on microsoft site doing the updates, well making sure that I was current with
updates. I then found that this version comes with FP, so I started browsing
the cd to find it since it was not an option during installation. I found 2
files that indicate it is availible. SETUPFPG (bootstrapper setup) and
FP11 (windows installer package). past that I have had no luck installing the
item, since the key is rejected, but only when I try to install the
individual item from the icon. As I indicated FP does not appear in the
setup dialoge when I let the auto run, run, or if I browse the cd to the
setuppro.exe

Front Page was removed from the 2003 Office Suites and is sold as a
standalone program.

The only edition of Office XP with Front Page is an enterprise version that
was widely pirated as soon as it came out.

well that makes no sense at all. I can plainly see the FP files on the disc,
there have to be some reasons why they are on the disc? does anyone know the
answer to that. It seems to me that putting the files on disc for no other
purpose but to look at them would be a waste of time, and of course as in my
case be as confusing as possible. No there has to be a specific way to use
the file or a seperate purpose for FP to be on this disc. Whats more I
ordered this disc from microsoft about 6 months or less after the release.
It would not be correct to think that Microsoft would pirate their own
software.

Perhaps they were lazy and took enough of it out to make in non
functional or didn't finish putting it in the suite. I suspect they
decided to do this so they could make more money selling FP separately.
I have an empty FP folder after installing O3 Pro but no FP program.

Well it is telling me that the CD key is incorrect. but I remember that XP
came with bootstrap exe icons, and you could install from those perfectly
fine. It seems that with this version, you can only install from the
setuppro.exe.

I guess I will keep using 2002 for now, they are not that much different.

thank you.

The main difference is that Outlook 03's .PST file can be much larger
than the XP version. Perhaps you can just install Front Page from XP and
then install 03?

Oh sorry, that is the way that I have been using the programs. I have been
using frontpage 2002, and then have all other programs installed from office
2003. Thank you all for your help.
