Office Pro 2003 "save as" freeze-ups

Tom

I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 Laptop with an intel duo core processor and I am
runnning windows media edition 2005 and office XP pro 2003. My "save as"
function keeps freezing up and if I wait about two minutes it unfreezes and I
can do one step and then it freezes again. Any ideas as to whether it is an
office or operating problem etc. and how to resolve it?

Sincerely,

Tom

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.

Hi and thank you for the response. Before I do what you suggested I wantred
to ask a question. The network drive that shows up is my HP printer. I have
my laptop set up so I can print and scan from it to my HP printer thru a
wireless router. The printer is hard wired to the wireless router and my
laptop picks up the signal to the router. If I disconect it will I have to
reconnect it each time I need to print and how do I do that (someone set up
the wireless printing for me)?

Sincerely, Tom

If the laptop sees the HP printer on the router, and if the
printer is turned on, then the "drive" should be "available".
Only drives that are "not available" should cause the delay that
you describe. Are you sure there are no other network drives
that are not available? If you disconnect the printer, then yes
you will need to reconnect it to print, and you should ask the
person who set it up for you regarding how to do it on your
particular network.

Hi again, well I disconected the printer and no freeze-ups since. You are a
genius, thanks. I had HP help me with the printer. Oh, there are no other
network drives that show up on my computer. why does this do this? The only
problem I see is that I will need to remap my printer everytime I need to use
it, which is everyday.
