Office Pro 2003 SP3 missing zf561402.cab

I have a volume license version of Office Pro 2003 installed on Win XP SP2. This
install of Office has already been updated with Office 2003 SP1 & SP2. I
downloaded Office 2003 SP3 from the Microsoft public download site but it fails
as it needs file zf561402.cab which is not on the original CD nor is it in MSO
cache. When I installed Office 2003 SP1 and SP2 I was NOT able to use the
service packs available on the public site as they failed with missing files
just like Office 2003 SP3 does. I had to use the Office 2003 SP1 & SP2 CD's I
received with my School Agreement subscription. My School Agreement, as well as
my TechNet Plus Direct, MSDNAA and Software Assurance, no longer provide CD's
and I am supposed to be able to get everything online. I assume the problem is
that I do not have an Office 2003 SP3 which is compatible with a Volume License
install but I cannot find Office 2003 SP3 anywhere else to download (i.e. not in
TechNet downloads). Where do I go from here? Either I need a version of Office
2003 SP3 which is compatible with my version of Office Pro 2003 or I need to get
the zf561402.cab file somehow.

Thanks...

For what its worth, I found this file on my Office 2003 volume license cd.
The file is marked as hidden at it is at the root of the cd. What you might
try doing is using the LIS (Local Installation Source tool) to delete your
MSOCache folder. Download and apply the full install file of Office 2003
SP3 (link below). If you get a prompt for original source files, then use
your volume license cd of Office 2003.

My Office 2003 volume install CD has lots of hidden .cab files but zf561402.cab
is not one of them. It goes from zd561402 to zf612702 with no files in between.
The error requesting the missing file comes from the full SP3 download you
referred to. Will using LIS to remove MSO cache make a difference since the file
is not on my CD? Thanks...

No because SP3 is looking for the original cab file. Just so you understand
what is going on, when an Office 2003 productivity app is installed, it
creates a cache of the cab files from the CD. This is to allow users to
add/remove features and patch the product w/out having to incur the dreaded
prompt for the original installation media.

Other than that, I am at a loss why that cab file isn't on your volume
license media. At this point, I would work back thru Microsoft to see if
they will replace your VL media and/or download the entire CD again from
their volume license website.
