Office Pro 2007: can't repair or uninstall

C

Carl Serkland

I am running Windows XP, fairly old machine (bought in 2000).
I installed a new Seagate 500G HD, using automated copy that came with it to
make it the boot drive. Also copied many files from 2 existing smaller (60G
and 80G) HD.

Office seems to run BUT:

Can't drag messages to new folder in Outlook (move to folder works)
Repair does not work
Uninstall does not work
Manual uninstall of Office (Article ID 928218) process does not work either.
It seems like the Windows Installer program has a problem.
Windows Explorer won't load (I'm using FireFox) so I can't get updates from
Microsoft

I want to get Office (and Explorer) working properly again.

Sounds like a typical problem with a CPU being not big enough and not supporting the
system,. You machine from 2000 has which Pentium CPU (size)
