office pro 2007 unable to reinstall/repair

Hi,

Every time I start Outlook it tries to reconfigur... asking to reboot every
time.
Also Access... but doesn't ask to reboot, all other apps work fine... (tried
opening in root admin account)
I'm unable to access via "Add or Remove Programs" when 'Microsoft Office
Professional 2007' is clicked nothing happens...
Tried to uninstal manually as per; http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218
but it wont uninstall .msi files... (also tried as root admin)
When I insert the original Office Pro 2007 CD I get "setup has stopped
working" A problem caused the program to stop working correctly...
Is there a way of upgrading/repair 'Windows install' all I can find warns
not recommended for Office 2007...
I thought vista SP1 would eventually fix but it hasnt...
sys. 32bit Vista Ultimate SP1, Intell quad @ 2.40ghz, 2gb ram
Any help would be extremely grateful

I've got a similar problem posted over in Outlook group, but no answers yet.
Outlook tries to reconfigure about 3-4 times then Outlook opens. No reboot
required. Be happy to share info with you if it arrives. Any suggestions from
your end? As an aside, I have a good friend who lives up your way in
Accrington.
