Office Pro 97 Resale ?

Can someone who understands MS's copyright policies wrt ebay resellers
explain why my auction for a 97 Office Pro cd, new & unopened, that was
purchased by myself many years ago, was ended? I'm getting automated
responses from the Microsoft & ebay people.

Why should I not be allowed to sell this software that I purchased,
Microsoft made the purchase money from, I never opened, installed or
registered, and its not a copy or OEM?

I don't have the original box and can't even remember if it came with one to
be honest. The rules cited by Microsoft's ebay watcher & ebay themselves
cite bootleg, OEM, unauthorized resellers, and software without a
certificate of authenticity.

Well I'm not a reseller, just someone looking to recoup a little of her
money back for a cd that has been collecting dust.

To my knowledge its not OEM. It doesn't state NFR or anything else on the
cd.

Its not a bootleg and no Office cd comes with a CoA. Not the 97, not the
2000 I own and not the 2003 I own.

So what is the reasoning behind this? TIA

You have an Ebay problem not a peer-to- peer newsgroup problem.

I suspect you are being classed with others who are trying to offer illegal
copies. If you have the CD and the code on the back of the CD jewel case,
that you contact Ebay directly with your problem.

However, if your used your Office 97 CD as a qualifying product to upgrade
to a later version, then the Office 97 is part of the license for your later
upgrades and you cannot legally sell it.

Thanks. No I never used it nor did I use anything to collect a rebate or
upgrade. Never even took it out of the shrinkwrap. Ebay's email
notification gave the name Microsoft and email address of MS Net Safe Team
as the party who cited me for violation. Since I'm getting automated
responses from both parties I figured I'd ask here in hopes of someone being
knowledgable about when you can & can't sell a MS software product.
