Hi,

I want to reinstall Mac OS X. Is it possible to retrive my product key for
Office 2004 for Mac before the reinstallation. I do not want to lose it.

Thank you.

AFAIK, the Product ID is a one-way hash based on the CD Key, so it can't
be retrieved in a useful way (you can see what it is by choosing the
"About <app>..." menu item from any Office application). As long as you
have the CD Key, you needn't worry about the PID.

Thank you for the answer.

I have a 3 keys version of Office 2004 for students. I don't remember which
one I used. That is why I want to find it since I do not want to lose the
one I used.

No solutions ????

Nothing to lose here but time, you do realize? Reinstalling with a
different number doesn't invalidate any of the numbers, which can be used
and re-used as many times as necessary so long as there are not duplicates
on the same network.

Here's the tip for changing the license key without reinstalling, if you
accidentally double-install the same license.

If I could recommend once you get going again, create an Excel
spreadsheet in your documents folder that has all of your login ins,
serial numbers, product keys, passwords, customer support numbers, etc
.. I dragged the icon for this particular spreadsheet to the right
section of my dock (the only place you can put document icons - and
don't worry, the document will remain in the documents folder for when
you do backups). That way, if I need to see or use a login or serial
number, I can open the Excel file without drilling for it, and even
copy and paste, if necessary.

I strongly recommend doing a backup of your docs folder frequently. I
lost this spreadsheet during a crash of epic proportions caused by
Extensis Suitcase, especially since I wasn't storing this document in
my documents folder. I had to write to a bunch of third-party software
mfrs to get this info to get my programs working again.
