Office Product problems in various products.

I recently updated my video card driver from Windows update. Immediately
afterward, my office products stopped working 100% correctly. For instance:

Whenever I send an email with Outlook, all the icons will stop working on
the next email I open or try to send. Also Word will open in a separate
window from my e-mail and remain open. Sometimes I can't close this window.
Task Manager does not show the application open, but will show the winword
process working. Since we use Outlook as our calendar for appts., this is a
major pain for me. I can only accept 1 appointment and then I have to close
Outlook and restart it in order to accept another.

Also, I have some Word documents with an embedded Excel spreadsheet in them.
The sheet is not linked to another Excel spreadsheet. When I double click
to edit the spreadsheet, a separate window for Excel will open with no
toolbars or menus. The document will convert to Excel and save the changes I
make and go back to the Word toolbars and menus. As above, the Excel window
does not close automatically, and sometimes does not close at all. Task
Manager will show no application, but will show the Excel process running.

Another syptom is my browser, which will beep as if an error has occured
when it first opens. No error message will appear, and nothing else appears
to be malfunctioning.

I never had any of these symptons prior to the download. It is the only
thing I did, but for the life of me and my tech, we can't figure out what
happened. Short of reloading Windows, we are out of ideas. I tried to do a
system restore, but there are no restore points available (I got Beagle.AO 2
days ago, just before the update and warnings went out, lucky me. I had to
stop system restore, and apparently it dropped all the other restore points,
unless this is another problem that developed.) I have scanned with several
different tools fior viruses and worms and came up with nothing. HELP!

Thanks

mdepeel,
Not an answer, but a suggestion.
Hardware driver updates are better applied from the manufacturer, not
Windows update since they are specific from the mfg. Before proceeding
further it would be good to backup your document and .pst files.
