Hello - I have just purchase a Lenovo X61 tablet running Windows Vista
Business 64-bit. I have 4 GB memory plus an additional 1 GB Intel Turbo Boost
chip running ReadyBoost.
The laptop came with Windows Office trial pre-installed, but my existing
product ID code wouldn't unlock it. I un-installed the trial version and
reinstalled from my Office 2007 Ultimate DVD and ran Microsoft Update to
install over 340 MB of Office-related updates. (Vista is all up to date as
well.)
Whenever I start up any of the programs, they immediately go into "program
not responding mode" for about 45 seconds before I can begin using them.
After that, they seem fine (although I really haven't used them much yet to
know if they remain stable).
Any ideas what may be causing this extremely frustrating delay?
One possibility is due to the way I installed the program. My laptop doesn't
have a DVD drive in it and so I copied the DVD onto an external USB hard
drive which I then ran the installation from. Would installing this way miss
something vital? I see that there is a 32-bit and 64-bit installation folder
and I assume that the installation process automatically know which one to
use?
I'm currently running Office Diagnostics to see if it comes up with
anything. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
