Office Products "Save As" no working on a networked drive

A few weeks back "Save As" in office products stopped working on a mapped
drive in a peer-to-peer network. The drive is set for off-line use adn works
fine when not connected. Other applications are not suffering from this
problem and new files can be created.

I suspect the problem is in one of the MS auto-upgrades (Office, Windows).

Win XP Pro is mapped to a disk on a WinME machine thru a linksys router. The
set-up was working great and the linksys is not suspected at this point.
(i.e. Nothing has been changed on the router).

Any ideas on how to solve this?

If you installed Windows update KB885250 "MS05-011: Vulnerability in
server message block could allow remote code execution", try
uninstalling KB885250 in Start | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs.
