Office Professional Plus.. "This application failed to install"

I don't know what to do.. I got a new computer a few days ago and I
downloaded office for it, but I keep getting this message. I doubleclick the
file X12-30196, the install window comes up and says "extracting files" then
a few seconds later it says "this application failed to install". Anybody
have any ideas?

From where did you download this Office application? The only reference I can
find for this download is not a Microsoft site.

Microsoft- 60 day trial. I have to figure out how to register it once I get
it installed, too. I have a key, but I already used it on my old laptop,
which was stolen two weeks ago, and I don't think I can use it twice.

Your key is not going to work with the trial

If you have a retail edition of Office you can install it on your new PC
using the key provided with that retail edition.
However if its an OEM edition its toast.

It's a key I got for attending a launch tour event. The problem is, I never
get to the point where it asks for a key.

The key is only going to work using the Office cd provided, its not going to
work with the trial

It worked with the trial the first time.. I got the key for attending a
launch tour event in january. I downloaded it as per the instructions it came
with. I was told to substitute the key I was given for the trial key. The
problem I'm having right now is that it never even gets far enough to ask for
the key.

It was a corrupt download. It works now!
