Office program and file close with very slow

Hi!

I'm using office 97 and facing one problem. When I opened any office program and file and when I close, it takes too long time to close the file or program. I have tried some methods from Microsoft knowledgebase; however it can not solve the problem, so anyone can give me some other ideas to solve the program

Might be time to defrag or do a disk clean-up. Delete temp files.

Also confirm that your anti-virus software is not contributing to the
slowness.

There is a good chance Outlook is automatically creating Journal
entries. Even if you are not using Outlook, if it is installed this
could be the problem and you may find reinstalling doesn't resolve the
issue since a default for Outlook 97 is to automatically generate
Journal entries and record the total editing time for Office
documents.

In Outlook go to Tools/Options/Preferences/Journal Options. That may
not be the exact location - it's been awhile since I've used Outlook
97 and I'm going from memory.

If you find the options are not enabled, or if Outlook was uninstalled
then also search for a file named "Offitems.log" and either rename it
or delete it.
