Office programs won't start

Hi,

I have a pretty unusual problem. I run Win2k & Office XP.
When I go to start->New Office Document, I get
a "filebrowser" for all my templates. When I choose the
desired template and click OK, nothing happens. This is
regardless of if it's a Word, Excel or any other template.
However, if I start lets say Word first and then tries to
open a template via start->New Office Document, everything
works fine. So what is wrong?
