Dear Microsoft
I live in Italy.
I do a lot of translation work in Italian and English.
In 2008 I had to replace my pc.
I was using XP Professional –English version for which I had purchased ‘MS
Office Edizione Studenti e Docenti 2003’ to use for my work
Replaced with HP Pavilion using Vista Home Premium – Italian version.
I did not want the Vista operating system to be in Italian and the MS help
desk/customer support advised me to purchase the English version – which I
did.
I replaced the Italian version of Vista and then tried to use the Italian
version of ‘MS Office Edizione Studenti e Docenti 2003’. It did not seem to
be compatible and one of the Microsoft technicians came on line and
downloaded MS Service Packs 1,2 and 3 (I think).
My work now requires the use of certain fonts that WERE/ARE available on the
English version of MS Office 2003 Word, but are NOT available on the Italian
version of MS Italian version of Word on ‘Office Edizione Studenti e Docenti
2003’.
For this reason I spoke again with Microsoft Customer Support and explained
that I wanted to know how to replace the fonts on the Italian version with
those from the English version. The female technician had to seek advice
(twice) from ‘another office/person’ (?) and finally told me that the only
way I could do this was to purchase my own copy of MS Proofing Tools 2003.
She assured me that with this programme I could change the font base.
Well at some considerable (additional) expense I now have that programme –
but I can’t seem to install it. It has downloaded, but I cannot ‘install’ it.
When I try it tells me (in Italian) that 'it is impossible to find the
expected version of the product on the system'…
So – I need help – I am not particularly computer literate and these
programmes are expensive to keep buying.
HELP!
I am more than willing to PAY for help - but that service keeps telling me
thay haave technical difficulties with payments and to 'try later'....
