Office Reinstall

T

TL7270

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

I purchased the full version of Office 2008 with my Mac last summer. Everything was working fine until 3 weeks ago when Word disappeared completely. It cannot even be found on the HD. All other applications with Office are still there and functioning fine.

I downloaded the trial version of Office 2008 hoping I could do a reinstall (I cannot find the install discs - after moving 3 times this year!). My product key will not work with the trial.

Is there anything I can do to get this going again?

Thanks in advance.

In most cases, when installation of an update fails part-way through, with
the installer either quitting unexpectedly in the accompaniment of an error
message or exhibiting an indefinite hang necessitating a force-quit, the
result is all or some of the Microsoft Office applications are completely
missing.

The only remedy is to re-install Office from your CD and update. FWIW, this
is not a MS specific problem. It can happen with any update process.

Tip: I suggest zipping the Office folder prior to updating in case of
problems. Easy to revert to previous install. (do I hear, now you tell me??)

The download version DOES NOT WORK with your CD Keys.

Ye gads! You've introduced a product that is going to make installing with
the physical product very difficult. You're going to have to remove every
Microsoft file associated with the trial download. Some users have had to
re-install the OS to get working again.

If you have your CD Keys, try finding a friend with an install DVD.
Otherwise you would have to have proof of purchase in order to get
Microsoft's replacement disk and that would cost you at least $25.

I've lost install disks after a move too so I understand.
