Office related files not opening

My computer will not open any Microsoft Office files or
applications. When I double-click on them the application
logo, e.g. Word, box appears and then it doesn't load into
the application.

The computer will be "busy" and then when I click to close
down the application, i.e. due to waiting so long, it will
give me that program not responding error.

It only seems Office file related as I can open other
applications and file, e.g. images.

Can anyone offer advice as to solving this problem?

If you applied the MSBlast patch that can destroy MSI files.

I am having the same problem on W2000 Pro, SP3/MSOffice 2000 Pro. SP3 did
NOT help. This occurred as a direct result of applying the MSBlast patch to
uninfected PCs. Symptoms: Can't open server based files from within MSOffice
applications, and the MS Office MSI files are hosed, or registry, because
problem persists after I uninstall and reinstall Office. I have posted this
all over Usenet to no avail, and don't want to shell out another $250 for MS
to fix what MS caused. Nothing I found in in knowledge base relates AFAIK,
with the possible exception of having a networked printer, but that was
working fine before applying the MSBlast patch, and the printer itself still
works, and no delays if printing from HD based document.
