Starting a couple of weeks ago, my pop-up calendar reminders do not work (no appointments ever pop up), even though the icon appears in my doc with the number of appointments. I have tried some remedies discussed on other threads, but nothing seems to work. Can someone please provide a fix to this?

Thanks.

Let's be sure it's not off screen. Reset the screen resolution so you can
check. If it is off screen, drag it back and reset to your normal
resolution.

Next, open Office Reminders. Select the icon in the Dock. Under Windows in
the Menu bar, select Zoom. Does this make the window large enough to see?

"/Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Office/Microsoft Office Reminders.app"

If that doesn't work, Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in
Accounts. Switch to the New User by logging out/in or use Fast User
Switching. Test the problem there. No need to enter account info to test
this. Just open Entourage and test reminders.

Let me know what you find.

The changing of resolutions did not uncover anything. I then created a test user and logged in as that user. I created a test appointment and the reminder worked correctly there.

So based on this, what would I need to do to correct things in my normal user account?

Thanks.

account?

We first need to test your Identity in the new test User. Drag your Main
Identity to Shared folder. Switch over to the test User. Drag (it actually
copies) your Main Identity to the Office 2008 Identities folder. If it works
using your Identity, then the problem should be in your User's preferences
or caches. (some preferences are stored in the database)

[don't forget to move your Main Identity in Shared back to your Office 2008
Identities folder]

If I remember correctly, the other user never found the problem and just
moved in the new User. I'll be interested in seeing what you find.

When I moved my identity to the test user, the notification pop-ups worked again. I then created a new identity in my original user account and pop-ups would not work.

Based on this, what is the next course of action?

Your Identity is OK, it's a problem in your User's account. Run the tests
for preferences and clear caches on the "Troubleshooting Your User Account
for a Problem" page.

It's not necessarily a Microsoft preference file.

I wiped out most if not all of my preferences, emptied the trash and rebooted. I then put in a test event with a reminder and it worked. So, I guess one of those preferences became corrupted. Hopefully it is ok now.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for letting us know it was a preference file. Glad it worked for you.
