office Service Pack 2 wont install

office Service Pack 2 wont install or the updates. office Service Pack 1 went
in with no problems. there is a mention of the installers 3.1 causing this
problem but got that as well. help plese

Some info that may be relevant:

When you try to install Office 2003 Service Pack 2, you receive a "The upgrade patch
cannot be installed by the windows installer service" error message, or the Setup
program may not be completed, and you do not receive notification
