Office Setup Assistant crashing for one user account

Processor: Intel

I am running Office 2008 (student edition) on the family iMac and went to launch word from one of the kid's accounts and each time the office assistant launches with error:

The Office Setup Assistant has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the extreme pain in the butt...

The error occurs every time I open any office application however it is specific only to this one user account.

I can't get past this error and use the software on this account. What could the problem be? Software is updated to the latest/

Hi Von -

Quit on launch is frequently associated with permissions errors, so the
first thing I'd try is repairing disk permissions. If that doesn't resolve
it try logging into that account while holding the Shift key to see if you
can launch Word. If so it suggests that there is some add-in/utility/process
which is interfering with the Office launches.

If that makes no difference try launching Word in that account while holding
the Shift key. If that succeeds there is most likely a problem with the
User's Normal.dotm or preferences files. See these pages for remedies:

If Bob's suggestion does not fix it, temporarily elevate the account to an
"Administrator" account, then try again.

This time, you should see an error message telling you what is wrong.

It may simply be that you were not logged in as the Administrator when you
installed :)

Cheers
