Office Shortcut Bar Install From Earlier Office Versions

R

Rich

I have read in other posts that an Office Shortcut Bar can be installed in
Office 2003 using an earlier version of Office and selecting a "Custom"
install. My questions is: Do I have to de-install Office 2003 before trying
to install the OSB from a prior version?

And are there any other "tricks" I should know before I do this?

Thanks All!

No, I have installed the OSB from Office XP on several installations and
have had no problems except for the prompt to install patches for Office XP
when the only component I have on this system is the OSB. I just ignore
them.

Millie,
I have the greatest respect for your contributions to the NG and your knowledge
of Office. However, I find the above response extremely interesting, since you
have been quite outspoken in your defense of the decision by MS to abandon the
OSB. You have also been a little condescending to those of us who feel that
decision was a foolish mistake and to those who have begged in this forum for
its return. Have you had a change of heart and decided that the OSB(as some
have been saying) is in fact a useful tool for novice Office users?

Cheers,
John

These installations are for those who can't keep the volume down when
whining about the loss of the OSB - it is easier on my nerves to install it
from an earlier version (which I have prominently advocated if you read my
posts about the lack of the OSB) than to have to listen to the gnarling and
gnashing of teeth and other bodily parts on a daily basis.
