I noticed in the Office for Mac that they have Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

I didn't see Access or Publisher. Am I blind? Is there an OFfice for Mac version with these? Or even separately?

I teach this suite and need the Microsoft version with the tabs, not OpenOffice.

They simply do not exist for MacOS X.

That's a crime right there. I wonder why Microsoft did that...
Thanks for the answer.

Hi,

Microsoft tends to bundle more features into Mac Office without
separating them into individual applications.

For Example, you can use SQL queries directly on Excel workbooks, and
now they have a million rows per sheet and you can have unlimited
sheets. You can then generate reports in Word and Excel. What's the
point of having Access and another file format if you can already do this?

Word on the Mac has Publishing Layout View, that has story-flow text
boxes, which is the main ingredient in Publisher. On the Mac you get the
primary functionality of Publisher in a file format that's compatible
wiht Word. What more do you want from a publishing program?

I appreciate your point, Jim, but as to;

What more do you want from a publishing program?

How about support for CMYK?

How about support for commercial printing?

How about accurate typography controls?

How about graphic placement *not* being anchored to a paragraph?

How about page sizes larger than 22"x22"?

Shall I go on? :)

I would think because you already get Microsoft Query with Mac Office.
Although you don't get Access Forms, you get just about every other
capability. For the most part, Access would be redundant.

If you'd read my message, you'd know why I could care less about the features being inside of Word or Excel.
I TEACH these programs on PC's with Office 08 and therefore need them separate to make sure I'm teaching based on what's in my classroom.

Office for Mac & Office for Windows have *never* been identical, nor have
the programs produced for the two ever been identical on a
feature-for-feature basis. I'm guessing that by the "version with the tabs"
you mean Office 2007 which is a Windows-Only radical departure from the UI
traditionally used on either platform.

If you intend to teach that version that's the version you need to have.
Office 2007 will run on the Mac in Boot Camp or using Parallels or VMWare
fusion... All of which require you to have Windows XP or later as well as
the Office 2007 software. Another Mac app called Cross Over - which doesn't
require having Windows installed - may be another option.

Good Luck |:>)
