Office sp12007: many problems, here's one. Please help.

I installed sp1.

Every time I open Outlook or Access I am presented with a window titled
"Configuration Process." It says "Configuring Microsoft Office Enterprise
2007."

I let this run its course, but it occurs every time I open either of these
programs. It's an enormous waste of time and a real aggravation.

Can someone please suggest a solution?

This has been an enormously frustrating waste of time.

If you have Windows XP, then log in to Windows as Administrator, start
an Office program, accept the EULA, close the Office program, log out of
Windows as Administrator, and log back in to Windows using your normal
user profile.

If you have Windows Vista, then right-click on an Office program
shortcut, choose to run the Office program as Administrator, accept the
EULA, close the Office program, and then start the Office program normally.

If the previous suggestion doesn't help, then see
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=884202 "You must accept the Office
End User License Agreement every time that you start an Office program".

Thanks, Gordon.

I should have been specific: I'm using Vista.

Oddly, I have the option to "Run as Administrator" with every program but
not for any Microsoft program. When I right-click any of hte Office
component icons, the option simply doesn't exist.

OK,

I went to Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office 12 and found the .exe file
there. Right-clicked. Selected "Run as Admin" and got the same
Configuration Process" window. No EULA. Restarted the program and had the
same result. Same with Office.

I have the same problem but it only affects Outlook. All other Office Ent
2007 apps work fine with SP1.

I didn't install Outlook when I first install Office Ent 2007. Didn't like
it, but then had to because
of work. I wonder if that maybe a problem. All my apps, including Outlook,
were working well until I applied SP1. Now, I get the "Configuration
Process" window everytime I start Outlook and that happens whether I launch
it as
an Administrator or as a user. Tot get around the delay, I just close the
window and the subsequent install app and
then Outlook works just fine.
BTW, I'm running Vista Home Premium with all the latest updates.

My guess is there must be a registry key that is not being updated properly.

I'm getting this same problem and I've looked everywhere for a solution. Did
any of you get this resolved? It's an un-necessary inconvenience to wait 12
minutes for Outlook to go through the configuration process every time you
open it. It only happens with Outlook, no other Office products. I'm running
Vista Ultimate, with Office 2007 professional.

This Vista OS has been a problem from the start: No video card drivers, no
video capture for AIW, no printer drivers….and now with the service pack
issues. Everything I’ve bought from Microsoft in the last couple of years
has not worked as intended, having problems from the start; Vista (no
drivers, no 3rd party support), XBOX 360 (3 replacements for red lights of
death), Office 2007 (this issue – sp1), Zune (returned to store 3 times
before I got one that worked).

Microsoft – great ideas and concepts, poor execution.

Same problem ... only occurs with Outlook 2007. I'm running Vista Ultimate
and Office Enterprise 2007. The only resolution I've found is to remove SP1
and go back to previous installation using my image copy backup.

However, I did find that canceling the configuration process as soon as it
popped up allowed Outlook to startup in a couple of minutes vs the 8-10 it
took to go through the full unnecessary configuration process.

Hope a resolution is found soon.

As I mentioned in my previous post, you don't need to wait for the
configuration to complete. Simply close the window and then cancel the
process. Outlook will then start immediately.

It's a nuisance that hopefully MS fixes soon
