Office SP3 Installation Problems galore

Help me out if you can, but please keep in mind that I really need to have
things spelled out if you have a solution. I am running Microsoft Office 2003
professional, and I have been having problems with Outlook. It freezes up all
the time now, and when I send an error report, it sends me to the website to
get the sp3 update. After I (finally) figured out how to get it authorized,
it said it was installing updates, but then it failed. It said something
about registry problems, and since I have some sort of registry repair
program that had been screwing up other things, I took a look at that. I
don't understand the instruction about re-establishing the original path- it
says "for example type D:\ if the cd rom drive used for installation is the
D: drive" but I'm not really sure if that's all i need to put in the value
data text box or something else- like the GUID value too after that.
Regardless, just typing in D:\ didn't work, and neither did E:\ , but I'd
like to verify that what I did was right.
It also seems as though I'm not getting other updates- I'm supposed to get
them automatically, but it's been trying to install something while it's
shutting down, and never seeming to succeed. I see alot of other people are
having problems with this, but I really need this spelled out. Thanks for any
help you can offer.

One of the many wrongs that a Registry Cleaner will always do. Do not use any Registry Cleaning tools. They are Snake Oil remedies and there is no need to use one. Leave the registry alone. It will not cause slowness and anything else as believed .

Having said the above try the below fix . It has worked for many in the same situation as you are in at present.

1st Rename Office subkeys

Note: Removing the following registry keys may reset customized user
settings for your Microsoft Office programs.

1. Close all the applications.
2. Click on Start->Run, type in REGEDIT and click on OK.
3. Locate and select the following registry subkeys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0

4. Right click on 11.0 and rename them to Old11.
5. Close the Registry Editor.

2nd. Detect and Repair Office 2003

1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start, point to and click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
3. Click Change/Remove Programs on the left pane.
4. Highlight Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 on the right pane
and click Change.
5. Insert the correct version of CD when it requires.
6. Select “Reinstall and Repair†and click Next.
7. Select “Detect and Repair errors in my Office installationâ€.
8. Click Install and wait the process to end.

3rd. Install the Updates
