Office SP3 update

G

gary

I have 14 identical new Dell Optiplex computers that came
with Office XP SBE pre-installed. I have successfully
installed SP3 on 12 of the computers without incident.
However, as the update install on the other two
computers, the first status bar completes, the screen
flickers twice and the update bars reverse and I receive
a message that the update was unsuccessful. The
individual programs still work properly, but will not
update. I have tried uninstalling and the Office suite
will not uninstall via Control Panel or the CD. I have
performed a repair and still no success. I have reviewed
Microsoft's website for solutions and none of those have
worked, including the full file install over the existing
install. Anyone have any suggestions on how to remedy
this impasse? There are numerous references to SP3
problems in these forums. Is this a busted service pack?

Hi Gary,

Hmmm. How are the machines doing for free disk space on
the Windows drive?

If you look at the log files in the temp folder do you see
a cause for the rollback?

You were able to complete a repair reinstall from Add/Remove
Programs under Microsoft Office but not an uninstall? What
occured when you attempted the uninstall?
