Office Spell Checker

Hi, I'm doing a research project on Spell checkers.
Can anyone tell me vaguily or otherwise how MS-Office returns possible suggestions for misspellings
I'm nearly sure that it uses FST techniques but can anyone confirm of deny this. Or shed some light on the subject
