OFFICE STANDARD TO MAC OFFICE X NUMBER FORMAT PROBLEMS

D

Don E. Bray

I HAVE JUST MOVED FROM PC TO MAC. MOVED A EXCEL FILE FROM MY PC TO THE
MAC G5 WITH OFFICE X, AND THE NUMBER FORMAT SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN LOST.
NO DECIMAL POINTS IN THE TABLES. CALCULATION FORMULAS DON'T WORK.
TRIED SAVING PC FILE AS EXCEL 97 AND 2002, AND THE RESULT WAS THE
SAME.

OBVIOUSLY, HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. DIDN'T ANTICIPATE THIS, AND
DON'T FIND THAT ANYONE ELSE IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM.

You don't mention if you have applied the Office X updates (to be downloaded
from Mactopia: http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx#OfficeX

Couldn't say that this will bring the answer, as this never occurred to me.
But this is the first point to consider.

Windows XL97/00/02/03 and Mac XL98/01/v.X all have the exact same
file format, so you don't need to do anything special to use files
created on WinXL with MacXL.

What type of format did you have applied when you saved on the PC?
Did you have calculation set to automatic?

What does "calculation formulas don't work" mean to you? That
formulas don't update? You get incorrect values? Errors? Nothing?
