Office starting to fail and SP1 update not working

I have Office XP 2002. It is running on XP Professional
SP1 OS. I have attempted to update Office from the web
site with SP1 and could not do so. Keep getting an
error. It does not allow me to update with the SP2. Now
just reciently, every time I shut down Microsoft Outlook
it appears to shut down, then I get a message telling me
that it did not shut down correctly and gives me the
option to report the error to Microsoft. I have again
attempted to install the SP1 update and again it has
failed. If you have had a similar problem or know of a
