I have had Office Professional 2003 for 5 years and never had a problem -
Yesterday every time I tried to open a file (Excel Word Access) I get the
error messaqe that it has encountered a serious problem and cant open the
file - it marks the file as disabled and send an error report - I can alter
the file to "enabled" but when I open it it does the same thing - I have run
all my Virus tools and nothing is found - I have downloaded and installed
OfficeOrg and it opens every file and they are all readable and I can change
them and save them - I have my automatic update on and it runs every day so
I know the system is uptodate - can anybody help?

Is there any err shown in System Event Viewer?
If you boot the PC to Safe Mode, does it still occur, the err msg?

Then you have some third party application causing the problem, I would
start by uninstalling any Anti Virus application, reboot then retest.
If that doesnt help, locate and run msconfig.exe, In the start up tab,
untick all start ups, reboot the PC, except the startup warning msg and
retest.
If OK, run msconfig again re-enable a batch of start ups, reboot, retest.
Its then a matter of re-enabling startups & rebooting to retest until you
locate the offending start up app
