Office Suite for Students

I had my student version purchased for me through my school last year, and it
has worked fine.
Two days I installed an update from microsoft, and it wiped out my entire
system causing me to re-format my hard-drive; in turn i lost all my programs
- including my office suite.
The school did not keep a copy of my serial number, and I am unsure what to
do now as I can't really afford to re-purchase a new copy.
Any help as to how I might be able to retrieve my lost programs (aka getting
my serial number/activation code from microsoft would be of great help)

Microsoft.com.
