Office takes long tiem to load exsisting files

Office 2003 (pro edition) takes a long time to load exsisting files on my
laptop but just to load any office progam on its own is almost instant.

e.g. its quicker to load word , then open the required file, instead of just
double click on the file to open it which takes upto 1 minute.

I have tried the default printer and disable norton add in solutions but the
problem sill occurs and the laptop is not connected to any network whatsoever.

I am having the same issue, same symptoms on my Office 2007 Home & Student
with Vista; tried the same solutions in vain. Also tried the 'replace
normal.dot' solution, no help. Still looking will watch for this
conversation.
