Office Templates Not Showing Up in Word/PowerPoint 2007

I have been using Office 2007 since RTM and today for the first time
experienced difficulties accessing the Office online templates from within
Word and PowerPoint. For example, within Word, I click the Office icon, then
New, then choose (for instance) Calendars under the MS Office Online header.
The app searches for a few seconds and then returns this: "There is currently
no content available for Calendars" with two hyperlink choices: "Try again"
or "Tell us what you are looking for." The same thing happens if I select
any of the other template categories. Out of curiousity, I launched
PowerPoint 2007 and the same thing happened within that app. I have run
diagnostics and that tells me everything is fine. I used to be able to
access templates via this technique just fine as recently as a few days ago.
Does anyone have an explanation, or better yet, a fix?

Empty your Internet temporary cache. In Internet Explorer, tools, Internet
Options, delete, delete files.

What Mary said.

And also, I would frequently have problems with the downloaded templates
during the beta -- I think sometimes the site is having difficulites or
overloads or whatever, and so we get these odd, uninformative messages.
Trying again later (and emptying TIF as Mary suggested) was often the
"resolution."

Thanks for the suggestion, Mary. I did as suggested but, unfortunately, it
did not work. I launched both Word and PowerPoint immediately after emptying
the temporary Internet cache, but still am unable to pull down the templates
from Office Online. If you have any other potential fixes, please advise.
