Office Test Drive

My Office Test Drive just expired and I would really like Office 2004.
Do I have to buy the full version or can I buy the "upgrade"? The
description of upgrade says you qualify if you had a promotional
package installed on your machine, which I believe the test drive would
be considered. Before I buy the Upgrade, will this work? Just trying
to save some money if I can!!!

I think the promotional packages they were referring to would be things like
the "Office Party" promotion where you got it cheaper with a new computer
(and *maybe* student/teacher edition). Did you look at this page, which
lists upgrade eligibility:
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/howtobuy.aspx?pid=upgrade

"Office v. X, Office 2001, Office 98 or any of the individual applications
in these product suites, including promotional bundles."
Regardless, it doesn't list Office 2004 in any version. I wouldn't risk
money on expecting this to work. Conceivably you could pick up Office 98
somewhere for cheaper than the upgrade difference.

No, the upgrade version won't work on the test drive.

However, if you or anyone in your household is classified as a 'student or
teacher', you do qualify for the S&T edition - and the rules are fairly lax.
There's a _Huge_ discount on that edition.
Office 2004 for Mac Student and Teacher Edition
For qualified educational users running Mac OS X version 10.2.8 or later.

$149 USD Full Version
(and that's for 3 licenses!)
