Office trial has expired? How to purchase?

Friend has laptop that organization purchased and it came with trial
software installed. The Office 2003 Professional software trial has expired
on Jan. 31, 2003. It mentions that if she wants to continue that she must
enter the 25 digit product code.

I understand purchasing cd from retail and looking at the envelope which has
the key, but am not sure about trial software installed. Was the friend
supposed to have the product key somewhere? Are you supposed to be able to
enter the product key and pay online to purchase now?

Thanks for information.

I know it can be purchased online, etc but I'm old school - I want a disk in
my hand when I hand over my hard-earned money. I don't want to find out that
my back-up CD doesn't have the files I need to do whatever. And Murphy's Law
says that that *will* happen to me and it will happen when I'm 20 minutes
from a critical deadline.

Thanks, I did not see what came with computer so I was wondering if trial cd
came with it or this was online thing? I do not know how trial cds are
marketed. I totally agree with you about cds.

The trial is preinstalled by the computer manufacturer. You can order the
trial CD but I'd be willing to bet that's not what your friend did.

Tell her to buy Office from her favorite software retailer or even
Amazon.com. Tell your friend to back up all of her Office files that she
created with the trial version. (This is just a little insurance just in
case.) Then **PLEASE** have her uninstall the trial version. Reboot and
install the full retail version. There have been a lot of issues with that
blasted trial version. I wish they'd dump it. People don't see TRIAL version
and then they post in here about what a crappy program because it's locked
up. They seem to think that Office is free. Or the trial version won't take
the full version's key. And on and on and on.....

(Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now.)
