Office tries to find additional components to download

C

Curt

I downloaded my University's Office XP as they paid for
all the students to have the software. I live off campus,
so I had to bring my computer to campus and download it
off the university network. The programs work, but
everytime the program starts (such as Word and Excel), my
computer attempts to find more components to install, so I
get an Error 1706 (asking me to find an .msi file). Since
I am no longer connected to the network, does anyone know
how I can stop Office from searching for those files or do
you know if there is a download for that file, etc?

I am running Windows XP by the way.

Thanks to anyone who attempts to help me.

Curt,

Your best bet is to connect back up to the university's network and do the
following:

1. Launch the Add/Remove Programs control panel.
2. Double-click the entry for Office XP.
3. Select Add or Remove Programs.
4. Select the top Microsoft Office item in the tree and select "Run all from
my computer"
5. After the installation is finished, launch all of the Office programs.

At this point, you should be able to run the programs while disconnected
from the network.

Hope this helps.
