Office Ultima 2007 Configures on Startup every time

After installing and unistalling Microsoft Project 2003, everytime I start
any of the Office 2007 program it goes through a configuration process that
takes forever.
I have uninstalled and re-installed Office 2007 several times with hopes it
will fix the problem with no luck.
Someone please help!

I have the same problem - configure at start. I din't have any other
version of office before the 2007 install.

I got same problem. I poked around online and the only viable reason I chould
find for this is that Vista does not save the config info when starting up
for the first time due to the reg. database not having correct or faulty
values.
As of yet I havent found a solution however.

I gather Srikanth means that to fix this problem (which, incidentally, I am
also experiencing) you have to edit the Registry to allow "full control" to
"everyone" in the "HKEY_Local_Machine" (HKLM) and "HKEY_Current_User" (HKCU)
folders of the Windows Registry.
If you look in these folders in the Registry, however, it is by no means
clear which sub-folders or components it is suggested we modify... and, while
I am not an expert by any means, I do know you don't mess with the registry
under any circumstances unless you know what you are doing.... and, putting
it mildy, giving "full control" to "everyone" sounds to me like a recipe for
complete disaster - but, like I said, I'm no expert.
Someone from MS support should be addressing this issue - it is getting out
hand, IMHO

Since posting the above, I came across a much more helpful post entitled
"Configuring Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007" with some tips from Vinod
Lewis... It seems (ultimately) to have solved the problem for at least one
other user, although I have not had time to try it myself

Hi

Before u try that, (since u didn’t mention your OS),
why don’t u try a non-destructive and "easy to restore" method.
1. open control panel > user accounts > Turn user acount control on or off.
and unclick and restrat.
2. or right click excel.exe in C:\program files\microsoft office\office 12\
click "Run as administrator" to open excel.

now if that doesn’t resolve , then it may not be issue with UAC.
and try this method.

1. start > run > regedit.
2. Browse to "HKEY_Local_Machine/Software/Microsoft/Office"
Right click "office", click permission,
click advanced, click owner,
click "other users or groups", type "everyone", click ok, highlight
everyone,
clikc "replace onwer..."
click "apply",
clikc" permissions" tab, clikc add, type "everyone", click ok, highlight
everyone
click edit, click full control under allow,
click apply, "ok".
highlight everyone
full control under allow should be clicked
click apply, "ok".

3. repeat same steps for HKEY_Current_User/Software/Microsoft/Office Key
also.
