Office Ultimate 2007 scratched upon opening

I recently purchased a brand new in the box, unopened, retail copy of
Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007. Upon opening the box it appears the first
disc scratched. I tried installing it on my PC and it does not work at all.
I cannot return the item and need to know what my options are.

Does Microsoft have a way to provide me with a new disc 1? I have the
license # and everything just need that first disc.

Thank you in advance for your replies!!

I see garfield-n-odie gave you the answer but why not try a few
emergency fixes?

First, does your PC and both a CD/DVD ROM and a CD/DVD burner? If so,
try putting the scratch disk in the burner and see if it can be read
there. If so, make a copy of it for future use. Burners seem to be
able to read some disks that ROMs can't.

Second, try washing the CD with mild dish washing detergent and warm
water. Rinse it very carefully to remove all the soap and then blot it
gently dry with a paper towel and try to read it again. Sometimes
there will be enough moisture left in the scratch to act as a filler,
at least it's worked for me several times...

can the disk be resurfaced without losing a liscense. I also have a micro
office (home and student) that is scratched and cannot be returned. I still
have 2 liscences left on it and was wondering if resurfacing the disk would
harm it.

The CD contains nothing related to the license activation. The CD is
just the install media.

Sure.

You have nothing to lose since you can't read the CDs anyway so give it
a try.

I'd also try to figure out WHY your CDs are getting scratched and take
steps to fix it if you can.
