Office update aborted and then gone wrong

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel

My Office has been running smoothly for nearly two years, no problem. Every update has been fine. Yesterday I had to install the new auto update. However, due to a mistake the installation was aborted before it was properly finished.

Now, all the icons are still there, but I can no longer access any programs or install updates manually. I have looked for the log files and the Microsoft Component Plug In, but cannot access those either.

Any idea what to do?
