Does anyone know if an Office Update back in October included an update to
the HP 4200L PS Driver?

Have you checked the KB article that discusses the update?

I can't find anything in the KB. But the event log certainly shows the
print driver update being done at the same time.

Office Updates would =NEVER= include updates to printer drivers.

The only way to get a printer driver update would be from Windows Update or
Microsoft Update, via the Optional Hardware Updates section. It is also
recommended that you do not install printer drivers obtained from Windows
Update.

The recommendation is to never install any printer drivers from any source,
apparently. Which means you can't really use features of any printer made
in the last couple of years. Sigh.

No.. the -recommedation- is to obtain the appropriate printer drivers from
the website of the MANUFACTURER of the printer.

You got an HP printer.. get the drivers from HP!

As for FEATURES of the printer...... every printer comes with a driver
capable of supporting the features provided in that printer. If you don't
have any driver installed at all, then start with the CD that came with the
printer.
