Office Update Catalog cannot be displayed

The Office Update Catalog cannot be displayed- I'm running Win98se. Suddenly
i cannot get updates. Tried fixes 1-4 on microsoft site. Suggestions please

I offered the link below because I have the same problem Office 2002 & XP.
I've had it since installing SP2.
I've tried all the fixes on the kbase article except running the update with
my firewall turned off!!!!

You tried all the fixes and they haven't worked?

If that fails, as a last resort, run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility
to remove the Installer registry entries for Office XP, and then re-install
Office XP, and run the Office Update again.

Many thanks I've finally cracked it. Seems the update software does not
like to work via a proxy server.
I turned that off and the update worked. Does not seem to have any effect
on performance (I'm on 1MB broadband)

Glad I've sorted it but it's been a major time waster
