Office update error message.

While trying to install a patch/update for Office 2000 Small Business, the following error message appreared:

Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Update did not complete successfully.
For assistance, contact Microsoft Technical Support.
See the log file: Office 2000 SR-1 Setup(0002).txt

Microsoft refuses to assist me, because this product came with my Dell computer.
Dell obviously cannot help me because this is a problem with the Microsoft software. What can I do?

Hi Emily -

Are you logged on as administrator? Check out this article to see if it

As a side note, Dell has agreed to support the products that it pre-installs
on their machines - so any warranty support that you have will be with them.
However, Microsoft will be glad to assist you, but since your warranty
support is with Dell, then support through Microsoft would be for a fee.
