While trying to install update, i'm prompted to put in
disk to find SKU112.CAB which for some reason isn't
there. Any thoughts as to where it might be?

Yehuda, this file is on the Office Standard 2003 CD. Is that the CD that
you have?

I had the same error message pop up; I have the Office
Small Business Edition 2003 "upgrade" CD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I suspect that you have more than one Office 2003 suite product installed.
If you look in Windows Add/Remove Programs, what Office 2003 products are
displayed in the list?

I am having the same issue. I download the 70MB office 2003 SP1 that
specifically said that you do not need the original source CD (the idea is to
distribute it as a network package in quiet mode). However, when I tested
it, I am still asked for the source CD, and sku112.cab IS NOT on the original
CD. I am stuck, and my outlook does not work (the reason I installed the SP
in the first place is to fix an "exchange extensions" issue that SP1
resolves).

I have the same problem on my new Compaq lap top. As previously stated look
for previous office versions, I did notice that it asked for the Office 2003
STANDARD edition disk during the service pack installation, however, I had
just upgraded to Office 2003 Professional. My lap top did come with an Office
2003 TRIAL version which I believe is the "Standard" SKU112.CAB file it is
looking for on my Professional CD. I will uninstall the trial version and see
if it fixes the problem. dgwe

If you do not have the installation cd and want to solve this issue
follow these steps: (works most of the time with all sku.cab files)

1. Click on start==>run==>type "excel /s" without quotations and click
ok.
2. Once Excel is up in safe mode with the error message in front, hold
down ctrl+Alt+Delete keys on your keyboard to bring the task manager
up.
3. Click on the processes tab==>look for msiexec.exe (only the one
next to your user name), click on it and end the process.
4. Excel should be running without an error message now==>close Excel
in safe mode==>reopen it one more time in safe mode to check if it is
opening with no error message.
5. Close Excel /s and open Excel normally, it should work fine.
