I'm try to update my office from http://office.microsoft.com/officeupdate/default.aspx but getting the following message

NOTE: Detection shows that Office products on your computer have been updated by your Office product administrator from the administrative installation point on a server. This means that you should not update Office products yourself. If you are an Office product administrator, please visit the Office Resource Kit <http://r.office.microsoft.com/r/rlidOfficeResourceKit?clid=en-US> for more information.

I'm sure we do not have administrativr installation point but why am i getting this message., ??

Hi, CY,

Did your system come pre-installed by the computer manufacturer?

Okay. So, if I understand your situation, you installed Office from a
network drive, which probably means you have an administrative installation
point (you ran setup /a to install to the network and then did a workstation
installation from there?).

If that is the case, you need to follow the link that the error gave you,
and it should give you information on how to apply the patches to your
network share, and then update your workstation from there.

Hi Susan,

That then case, may I know which reg key that I can amend to solve this problem ?

Please advise..

Hi, CY,

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to do. No reg key is to be
amended. If you ran setup /a to create a network installation point, and if
you ran setup on your workstation from there, you need to first patch the
network installation point then run setup on the workstation again to patch
the workstation from the network installation point.

Click on the link that was provided by the error message you received and
follow the instructions there.

If you want to change how Office was installed, uninstall it, and then use a
CD in the workstation to re-install it. You will then be able to use the
Office Update site to patch the workstation directly.

Hi, CY,

A search of the Microsoft Knowledge Base turns up this articles for that
error:

217714 - OFF2000: Setup Appears to Stop Responding, Followed by Internal
Error 2336 or 2755:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;217714&Product=ofw2k

220780 - OFF2000: Setup Error 2755 with Earlier Office Version Installed:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;220780&Product=ofw2k

Does one of those help?
