I'm using Office Professional 2003 and Internet Explorer 6 with all of the
current patched in place.
While selecting "Check for updates" to automate the update process, I get a
runtime error:
Line: 698
Error: Automation server can't create object
Then I'm taken to the "Try again" page, which of course doesn't work.
I suspect the problem is with Internet Explorer. I've reinstalled it, wiped
out the temp files, and reinstalled the latest SP1 updates to no avail. I
also uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2003 just in case.
I have previously use Office Update successfully in OfcXP on this same
computer.
Two recent changes may be involved. I recently installed the Google toolbar,
I recently installed SpyBot Search & Destroy. I tried uninstalling both, but
with no more success.
Any insights or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steven
