Office Update Failure

D

dirrad

I am running MS Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Version 2003 SP2 and am
having problems with my system failing to install 2 critical updates.
The updates that I'm try to install are:
Update for 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB932080),
Update for Outlook 2007 Junk Email Filter (KB932338)

I have tried turning off my Norton Anti-Virus and I have re-booted my
system, but I keep getting the same results.

Any ideas?

A quick question before I give you a fix for this issue. Did you use any Registry Cleaners lately ?

No, I have not used any Registry Cleaners.

1st Rename Office subkeys

Note: Removing the following registry keys may reset customized user
settings for your Microsoft Office programs.

1. Close all the applications.
2. Click on Start->Run, type in REGEDIT and click on OK.
3. Locate and select the following registry subkeys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0

4. Right click on 11.0 and rename them to Old11.
5. Close the Registry Editor.

2nd. Detect and Repair Office 2003

1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start, point to and click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
3. Click Change/Remove Programs on the left pane.
4. Highlight Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 on the right pane
and click Change.
5. Insert the correct version of CD when it requires.
6. Select "Reinstall and Repair" and click Next.
7. Select "Detect and Repair errors in my Office installation".
8. Click Install and wait the process to end.

3rd. Install the Updates

Hi,
I am running MS Windows XP Home Edition SP2 and I am also having the
same problems with these two updates.
The updates that I'm try to install are:
Update for 2007 Microsoft Office System (KB932080),
Update for Outlook 2007 Junk Email Filter (KB932338)

I did everything that you told dirrad but it still isn't working for
me. When I tried to rename the registry keys in
HKEY_Current_User/Software/Microsoft/Office/11.0, it wasn't there. Only
12.0 was there.

So I tried to skip that part and just go and repair it, however, it
failed to repair and gave me an error message.

"The instruction at "0x00801113" referenced memory at "0x007e4060. The
memory could not be "read"".

This is the same error I get when I try to install the updates.

Thanks.

You have Office 2007 which is Office 12. Just follow the same and do not skip that step. Instead of 11 use 12

I did everything you told me. I renamed the keys to Old12 and tried to
repair the program but it gave me the same error.

"The instruction at "0x00801113" referenced memory at "0x007e4060. The
memory could not be "read"".

So I tried to rename it Old11 and repair it again. The same error comes
up again.
I get fed up and I try to uninstall Microsoft Office 2007, but I can't
even uninstall it cause the error comes up AGAIN! (This error basically
stops the process of everything.)

This is really annoying.

I ran some anti-virus checks and malware checks. The results are fin
with no virus and malware on my computer
