Office Update freezes on 40%. What do I do?

I had the same problem, and nothing from the list of recommended tricks
(such as KB304498 and Windows Installer Clean Up Utility) worked.
So I did a clean installation, as I was told, in the end.

It´s painful, but at least it did the thing. Wish you luck.
